Here you find the Black List of PTR. I strongly advise against registrating with these services. All these sites are either not paying member and/or even call in money, have an extremely bad support (if at all) or beeing outright scams.

How to recognize Scam Sites?
- There are many sites out there which promise emails worth the likes of $5, $50 or $100 and upwards. DO NOT join any of these sites. These are ridiculous attempts to take your money and you will never see a penny. EXCEPTIONS are so called "Redemption Only" sites where you can redeem your money for advertising only.

- Check the advertising price to see if sites selling ads underprice. If for example, the site has 100 members and an email to all costs only $2 for a $10 link, you can clearly see that the site is underselling advertising. 100 members x $10 per member = $1,000. Therefore, the actual cost of the advertisement without taking into account the referral commission, comes to $1,000. If a site sells this link for only $2, the site is sustaining a loss of $988 per advertisement sold. This is only an example but please note that there are sites selling $10, $20 and even links worth hundreds of dollars for just $2 - $3. Basic mathematical skills will show you that such sites are totally unsustainable and therefore, short lived. If you wish to calculate how much the ad should cost, use the Sustainable Calculator.

Sings & Symbols:
* = Unsustainable Site
** = Unlicensed Cash Crusader Site
*** = behind with payouts or not paying
**** = Site from Steve Allen, well known for not paying

Confused Can someone explain what forced searching is? I ask because I see cosplaymails on the list which I am a member on. I have had no problems with them, and have been paid many times. If inactivity means getting less search emails I would think that is a standard, as in why would they send out emails to someone who isn't going to do them. Of course that would at the descression of program owner. If this is indeed the case, I had at one time not did any of my mails for 2 months and still recieve about the same emails today as I did before that break.

I may be missing something here though.

Forced searching is when you have to perform searches, or the program owner will not pay you.

I would like to state that in my experience forced searching has NOT been the case for the Cosplaymails program. I have always been paid no matter how much or how little I've searched.

Forced searching doesn't mean you have to do all searches but that you won't get paid when not perform any search.

Oh you mean doing the actual full search then just making one click, I see what you mean.

However, I'm lead to ask, isn't that what the person signs up and is paid for... to search? How can one be expected to be paid to search if they are not actually doing the search? It must be in the TOS or something.

If a site tells members they signed up to be paid for searches, it's wrong. It's forcing searches. It's against the TOS of those engines they are promoting (or at least, against the terms of the feeds being used in those engines).

Here's sort of a simple breakdown:

A person (like you or me) has a website and wants to advertise. They go to Search A site and pay to have their site listed. Search A says in their terms that incentives are not allowed. Search A then tells smaller search engines they can sign up and use their results, ie a feed.

A smaller search engine, Search B, uses the results from Search A. They also put in their TOS that incentives are not allowed. They get members or "affiliates" to join and promote their engine. They tell those affiliates that they can make a portal page (a page with a box and a bunch of keywords) and drive traffic to it, but they cannot ask or tell members to search.

PTR A joins Search B and promotes a portal page, but they do so by telling their members they must search. Either by explaining how to search and saying, "This is the only way we make money to pay you" or "You won't get paid unless you search" or whatever.

Obviously, the PTR A is breaking the terms of the other engines. The members in PTR A search, as they think that's their job, to ensure they get paid. They aren't really looking for something, they just want to do their job. They completely forget about that person at the top who put money in to advertise their site in the first place. The person who is now footing the bill for all of those clicks that members think is their "job". The person who only wanted people interested in their site to visit and signup or purchase something. The person who is now out tons of money and has to close up shop.

Again, that's just a simple breakdown. It can actually get a lot more complicated, with several tiers of engines and feeds, but the end result is the same - and the concept of forcing searches and breaking the rules is also the same.

P.S. Sorry if I didn't explain that well... I sometimes have that problem, lol.

Let me say it this way: when you don't have the intention to search you may not check it in your interests. If you click on a searchlink without doing a valid search the promoter doesn't earn a penny from you and some POs uncheck in this case search from your interests but them must pay you! Not pay you just because you don't do valid searches is called forced search and this isn't correct.
